This year we have had some fantastic exhibitions. We started with Laurie Collins from Jindivic (who came to our attention through our 2009 Biblio-Art exhibition), then the very popular JAF Perkins, and followed by the highly detailed water-inspired works by Amy Robinson from Melbourne. On 12 June, to a packed and very enthusiastic crowd, we launched our 2010 Biblio-Art Exhibition, with 86 pieces of incredibly diverse, unique and outstandingly competent artwork! So many pieces, in fact, that they have had to spill out into the bookshop! This exhibition is open until September to give everyone a chance to enjoy the hard work from the many artists who entered. If you are unable to make it in to the gallery, make sure you check out the photos of the artworks, and the opening event. (menu links on the left) Current Exhibition2010 Biblio-Art Awards and ExhibitionWhat a wonderful launch party we had!!! Millions in attendance (well, it was certainly a squash and a squeeze) ... and enormously positive responses by all! Our three winners should all take a bow - the overall quality of the work was outstanding! The judges (Nicholas Jones & Gareth Colliton) had quite a difficult time of it! SUE FERRARI won 1st Prize for her incredible origami-inspired kimono, entitled, "Daughter of the Pacific".
The Storyteller's Award went to ERENE MARONITI for her "Apes, Angels and Victorians", a piece that nicely encapsulated the science v religion argument.
And, for the second year running, EMILY McCORMACK took out the People's Choice Award for her gorgeous "Minnie's Mission".
We will be putting together a couple of video clips from the evening for the website, so do check back in time. |
